Advanced DSO: Adding InfoObject

Hi all,

I am facing an issue when trying to model an Advanced DSO directly from Eclipse-based BWMT: I am not able to add any InfoObject to ADSO structure. In the "DETAILS" tab, when I choose Add InfoObject no IO appears in the result list.

Moreover, when I add a simple field (no InfoObject field) to the ADSO structure with BWMT, I am not able to see it using RSA1.

Could anyone support me on these issues?

Thanks a lot.

Replicate ODP Datasources in BW

Hi,

I have to use the ODP Datasources in my BW on HANA system 7.4 SP5.

I do not have knowledge about the ODP datasources.

Can anyone please let me know the following:

1. What is the difference between ODP and normal ECC datasources?

    Which are better?

2. Can we create generic extractors as ODP datasouces?

3. How can we replicate the ODP datasources from ECC to BW?

Any inputs would help!

SAP BW Java Stack on Hana

Hello

What's the process to migrate a splitted MCOD BW Instance (java stack) to SAP Hana. I see lot of threads with similar questions. Can someone answer this? No sidecar solution please ;-). We want to replace the running "AnyDB"

There are no DMO/SUM process for such things. Yes, a lot of logic allready integrated in BW7.40 in the abap stack, but we're using Java Stack also for BI Portal, Web BEX,  Xcelsius ...

Thanks for any hints.

Composite provider and navigational attributes

Hi Experts

We have created a composite provider and mapped some of the fields towards BW info objects. These info objects have navigational attributes, but when we open up the composite provider in BEx Query designer we cannot see the navigational attributes. We can see all attributes of the info object as display attributes but not as navigational attributes.

Is this an error or doesn’t the composite provider support navigational attributes?

Kind regards

Erik

Hi everyone,

While working in our BW on HANA environment (7.30 SP9 HANA rev.56) we are having issues with infobject tables.

In this specific case we run a query in RSRT and then right clic on the infobject and from the context menu choose Select Filter Value.

The system goes into Debugging mode and after going through we get the following error message:

Any thoughts ?

Hi Experts,

What is the recommended # of attributes for master data object in SAP BW on HANA?

Are there any limitations to attributes/ Navigational attributes?

What is the SAP recommendation on this?

Appreciate your response and any useful blogs/documents or SNOTEs for this.

Hello Experts

Is there any table where we can see all fields mapping for Composite provider. Something similar to RSDICMULTIIOBJ.

Open ods view on top of calculation view

Hi All,

We have BW system running on HANA also  non-BW system running on HANA. We have created a smart data access from our BW system to non-BW system and were able to access the tables using open ods views.

There are couple of calc views on the non-BW system which we like to integrate to BW using open ods view. We were able to create the open ods view on the BW side using the calc view and able to see select the fields also, but it fails on activation. While activating the open ods view system gives the error message, “invalid remote object name: unable to retrieve remote metadata from _sys_bic/reporting/Calcview”.

Is there any special privilege required for accessing the calcviews on open ods?  The same smart data access works fine with tables. Also the user used for smart data access can access and do a data preview of the calcview using studio, the same is  used to build the open ods.

We looked on some of the discussion on SCN, the discussion http://scn.sap.com/thread/3440362 says the object under _sys_bic schema are calculated scenarios won’t be available through Smart data access

The thread http://scn.sap.com/community/bw-hana/blog/2014/10/17/open-ods-view-in-hana-edw-the-best-of-bw-and-hana-combined says calculation view can be accessed through smart data access, and we are trying this functionality.

We are on BW 7.4 SP10 and HANA SP10.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jino.

LSA++ -How to Eliminate 1:1 Info cube

$

Hello Experts,

SAP Recommend LSA++ Architecture. I have a Question/ Scenario, let me know how to implement LSA++.

I have DSO and Cube, the transformation between DSO and Cube is 1:1, except, one field which is Fiscal Period. The Field Fiscal period is only available in info cube dervied from posting date.

For the above scenario, how do i use LSA++, I want to eliminate the info cube and report on DSO using Multi provider or composite provider.

Only option comes to my mind is create new DSO and add Fiscal Period to it or excisting DSO, add Fiscal period and reload all the data in the DSO.

Any suggestions?

Create Transient Providers or Open ODS View on top of Calculation Views

$

Hello all,

We have an on going project and we created some calculation views and on top of them we created Open ODS views to combine HANA live data with BW data.

The reason, we created Open ODS views on top of HANA live CVs because our ERP and BW systems are sitting on two different HANA systems. We weren't able to attach ERP system's HANA to a BW project and use the calculation views created in ERP on HANA system directly in CompositeProviders.

We didn't have any problems using HANA live CVs in Open ODS views in BW. However, our Basis team applied a SPS 10  to our HANA systems. After that, we weren't able to use or create new Open ODS views on top of ERP on HANA Calculation Views.

We searched SAP KB notes and we came up with a couple of them stating that this feature is no longer supported with SPS10 and also states that SAP will start supporting back again with SPS11.

2154347 - Open ODS View with HANA Smart Data Access: HANA Column Views as Source Object

As I said, since we have on going project and in the meantime, having developed reports and composite providers with Open ODS views, it is not acceptable for us to wait untill SAP releases SPS11 god knows how long it will take for them to release this version.

We tried to create TransientProviders on top of CVs where they are in ERP HANA system. When we go to transaction RSSDD_HM_PUBLISH to create TransientProvider, we can only see the packages in HANA of BW system not HANA of ERP system.

Here are my questions.

1. Is there a any way to create TransientProvider in another HANA system from BW on HANA?

2. If it is not, then how can we combine the data in ERP and data in BW without ETL?

Hello Experts,

I installed SAP HANA Studio in my local machine (outside C:Program Files, i.e in  D Drive)

I followed 2 options to install BW Modelling Tools Plugin, both have been unsuccessful. Can some one please let me know what is missing.

I checked the pre-requisites mentioned in the installation document (http://help.sap.com/download/netweaver/bwmt/SAP_BW_Modeling_Tools_Installation_Guide_en.pdf) and my system has all the necessary ones.

Option 1

- Followed the instructions mentioned in the https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/

- HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the link https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna

- I get the below error

Unable to connect to repository https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna/content.xml

Connection to https://tools.hana.ondemand.com refused

Option 2

  - Download latest patch from Service market place

  - HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the Archive path

  - Error message I get is below,

Missing requirement: BW Core UI 1.6.3 (com.sap.bw.core.ui 1.6.3) requires 'bundle com.sap.adt.destinations.ui 2.18.0' but it could not be found

  Cannot satisfy dependency:

    From: BW DataStore UI 1.6.3 (com.sap.bw.datastore.ui 1.6.3)

    To: bundle com.sap.bw.core.ui 1.1.0

  Cannot satisfy dependency:

    From: BW DataStore Object 1.6.3 (com.sap.bw.feature.adso.feature.group 1.6.3)

    To: com.sap.bw.datastore.ui [1.6.3]

Thanks for providing some hints.

Hi guys,

Just want to ask if this is possible in Hana Studio?

For example, I have these fields:

DSO1:

STATION

STATION__CUSTOMER (nav attribute of STATION)

AMOUNT

DSO2:

CUSTOMER

QTY

Is it possible to join the STATION__CUSTOMER to CUSTOMER field in Hana Studio? In tcode RSLIMOBW I can do it, I don't know if that's also possible in Hana Studio..Tried and searched for ways but still no luck..

Thank you..
